Why would we need to help babies with rolling.

A lot of the time, babies will initiate rolling on their own, however there are some instances where we, as parents, could help our little ones with rolling practice.
1. If baby is up a bit during the night with rolling practice, we can help baby practice during the day so that they don’t feel the need to practice at night. So get those reps in during the wake windows!
2. If baby is constantly getting stuck in one position and then gets BIG mad, we can show them how to roll over to the other side!
3. Head turn preferences is where baby spends majority of the time looking one direction or the other. With these babies, even if they can roll over in one direction, we want to make sure they can roll over to BOTH directions equally. Sometimes these kiddos end up in PT because they have tightness with sitting, pulling to stand, and walking
4. If your kiddo is 7-8mos and hasn’t initiated ANY rolling, please talk to your pediatrician and potentially get started with PT services. Early intervention is the best!
